Field Visit
In conjunction with the meeting, GS1 Singapore has arranged some RFID site visits for the delegates on 24 November 2005
- RFID Performance Test Lab
It will be an eye-opener for the delegates to visit this first test centre in South-East Asia. This test centre features the latest testing facilities for evaluating RFID technologies and applications in a 'live' supply-chain environment. It provides a full range of packaging and tag testing, compliance and integration services along with training and entry-level 'tag and ship' solutions for customers wanting an immediate RFID solution.
- Singapore Container Port
The Singapore container port is the world's largest container transhipment hub. In 2004, it handled a record of 20.6 million TEUs of containers in Singapore. Various RFID infrastructures have been installed in the port to automate the operations and to speed up the turn-around of container vessels within 4 hours including berthing, loading and unloading of containers and departure.
- RFID Library
Delegates will be guided to visit the first library in the world to use radio frequency technology in the library environment. This RFID system is able to manage the tracking, distribution, circulation and flow of library materials. A total of more than 11 million 13.56MHz RFID tags had been tagged on books, magazines, videos & CDs.
- Asia-Pacific Brewery
Asia-Pacific Brewery is one of the key players in the beer industry. A joint venture between the Fraser and Neave Group of companies and Heineken of Holland, Asia-Pacific Brewery was established as Malayan Breweries Limited in 1931. It went on to open its first brewery in Singapore and launched the award winning Tiger Beer a year later. For the brewery tour, delegates can look forward to experiencing the sights, sounds and smell of beer in the making at the brew house and packaging hall. The tour will include sampling the refreshing taste of brews at the Tiger Tavern and buying exclusive gifts or premiums from the souvenir shop.
